두뇌와 컴퓨터의 결합으로 의식과 기억이 사이버스페이스로 옮겨가면서, 기계의 도움으로 영생을 누리는 신인류가 탄생할 수 있다. 김효재의 작업에서 'Z'는 밀레니얼 세대 이후 새로운 주체가 될 수 있을 사이버스페이스 내의 설정값 ‘디폴트’로서, 영생에 대한 욕망과 미래에 대한 염원이 투영된 존재다. 어쩌면 먼 훗날, 스마트폰에서 잉태가 가능한 시대가 오지 않을까? <태교>는 그러한 시대에 기계가 된 작가를 이어 사이버-영생을 누릴 자손을 위한 영원한, 그리고 영원할 유언이다.

As consciousness and memory transfer onto cyberspace due to the fusion of the brain and computer, a neo-humankind who has eternal life could exist. In Kim Hyojae’s work, ‘Z’ is the default on cyberspace who could be the next subject after the Millenials, whom the desire for eternal life and a yearning for the future is projected on. Perhaps in the distant future, pregnancy via smartphones might be possible. 𝙁𝙚𝙩𝙖𝙡 𝙀𝙙𝙪𝙘𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 is an eternal/to be an eternal will for the descendants who will enjoy cyber-immortality from the artist who will have already become a machine.
